Sach ich doch: Der ist auch garantiert älter als 10 Jahre u. garantiert noch da!
NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Dubai, UAE, United Arab Emirates, 12/15/2005 - 1937 classic - a genuine collectors car..
Hamburg-based E.Thiesen Automobile Raritaten has brought the classic Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster for Euro 1.9 million that may well be the most expensive car at the 8th Middle East International Motor Show organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre that will conclude at 10.00 PM on the 16th of December at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Dr. Rainer Herbst of E.Thiesen said, “We specialise in collecting and restoring genuine historic classic cars for enthusiasts and collectors.” The company has over 100 models at its showroom in Germany. They have been in the business for the last three decades and rank among the best in this field in Europe.
Hernst added, “The Special Roadster 540K model which we have brought to Dubai is a genuine classic car from 1937. It is a significant model in the history of Mercedes-Benz cars, in that it was the top of the line model produced before World War II. It was known as the Super car of its time. A very powerful car with an eight cylinder engine, 5.401 cm, roots supercharger, 115hp without or 180 hp with supercharger and a 5-speed gearbox.”
Between 1936 and 1939 only 419 cars of the type 540K were delivered by Mercedes-Benz in a variety of 10 body styles. Of the Special Roadster only 25 examples were built and today only 10 models remain in the world.
The absolutely stunning body style marked this car as the most desirable and sought after model of all the supercharged Mercedes cars. The disappearing back and hood adds to the elegance of the two-seater. Says Hernst, “It took a team of sophisticated mechanics and very knowledgeable engineers eight years to rebuild and restore the car to its perfect condition.”
He adds, “Thousands of visitors to the show are intrigued by this outstanding automobile from a different era and ask me if this is a replica of an old car. That's when I explain to them that this is an original, a collector's item. More like a piece of art.”
He concluded that the car had generated a lot of interest at the show with several potentially serious buyers.
